Aiya Falls: A Hidden Gem of a Tourist Spot on Awaji Island in Hyogo

It's not a very big waterfall, but it's a mystical sight, surrounded by rocks in the valley. You can spend some relaxing time soaking up the negative ions. Aiya Falls is a 14.5m waterfall located about 600m downstream from Aiya River Dam in Sumoto City, southern Awaji Island. You can get very close to the waterfall via a stone walkway and see it cascading down from up close, making it a power spot filled with negative ions. The sound of the waterfall gets louder and more exciting. Halfway up the stone steps next to the waterfall, there is a stone shrine to the Eight Great Dragon Kings. You can get some power from here, too. You can also experience the beautiful nature of each season, such as fireflies in the summer and autumn leaves in the fall because the water there is so clear. There are even places where you can go down to the river, and in the summer, it would be fun to look for crayfish and small fish. Cherry trees also line the area from the side of the parking lot to the plaza above, making it a beautiful spot to view the cherry blossoms in spring.

It's a highly recommended spot for sightseeing, but it is also a hidden gem that surprisingly few people know about, so you can take your time exploring it even on holidays. Again, as it's surrounded by rocks, this beautiful waterfall is the best on Awaji Island!
