Usa (not America) in Oita Prefecture
Usa City in Oita Prefecture has long been a center of sake brewing, especially distilled spirit made from barley called shochu, thanks to its high-quality groundwater and the rice and wheat harvested in the Usa Plain. Taking advantage of the ideal climate for sake brewing, Usa City was certified in March 2020 as the country’s first special zone for refined sake brewing, officially named *“Usa City Special Zone for Sake Brewing Experiences,” with the aim of revitalizing the local area through refined sake-brewing experiences. The city has been cherishing the “koji and fermentation culture” that Japan is proud to share with the world. “They want to bring the appeal of ‘koji and fermentation’ from Usa to the world.” It is also known as the best deep-fried chicken named "Karaage" which goes perfectly well with beer and shochu. You can eat and drink until you drop.
Usa has Usa-jingu Shine, home of the war god worshipped as the protective deity of the Imperial capital. It's believed to be the first shrine in Japan in which the deity Hachiman was enshrined in the eighth century. As such, it has enjoyed the deep respect and patronage of the Imperial family, and is the head shrine of all Japan's shrines dedicated to the deities of protection and military fortune. There are two buildings situated in front of each other, according to the building style of the time. The front area is where the god stays during daytime, while the back area serves as his sleeping chamber.
