Bizen Osafune Sword Museum in Okayama Prefecture

One in four swordsmiths were from Bizen in Okayama Prefecture and 40% of naturally important blades were forged there. You can see some of the finest cutting weapons ever produced, and how they're made and maintained.
The Bizen Osafune Sword Museum displays blades made by long-dead master swordsmiths, but that's not all. This is a learning center as well, with workshops and seminars on the craft held frequently, including the sword-making process. You can enjoy watching a blade being forged, witness firsthand the sword-making process, and talk directly with the craftspeople who specialize in particular parts of the sword.

The museum often holds special events organized in the style of a village. One of the best-known exhibits featured swords from the legendary Evangelion animated series. You can also purchase swords, kitchen knives and so forth there if you like.
